NEW DELHI (Feb. 15, 2:15 p.m. ET) -- Dutch pipe extrusion equipment maker Rollepaal BV is doubling capacity of its Indian factory this year to meet growing demand in the country’s infrastructure markets, as it plans other international ventures, a company executive said at the recent Plastindia trade show.
The Dedemsvaart, the Netherlands-based company set up its India operation in Ahmedabad in 2003.
“India is full of potential with infrastructure improving and there is lot of construction going on all over the country,” said Klaus Lorius, international sales manager. “We are also focusing on the growing PVC market in India. … Existing capacity is small considering our growth.”
The company makes a range of pipe extrusion lines, including for OPVC, PVC for agriculture and household plumbing, cPVC for hot and cold water, PE for agriculture, multilayer PVC, PE and PP-r, and sewer pipes.
Besides the domestic market, the Indian factory also caters to export markets in South America, Africa and elsewhere in Asia, he said.
The company recently opened a sales office in Africa and plans to open another in either Singapore or Malaysia in the next six months, Lorius said in an interview in the company’s booth at Plastindia, held Feb. 1-6 in New Delhi.
He also said the company was looking to acquire another extrusion equipment maker and transfer that operation to its Ahmedabad factory.
The company said it would soon make available in India an extruder with a capacity of 1,000 kilograms per hour. Globally it provides twin and single screw extruders with capacity up to 1,750 kg. per hour.
